Visa policy of Azerbaijan

According to the visa policy of Azerbaijan, if your country is not among the visa exempt countries to Azerbaijan, or eligible for Azerbaijan e-Visa or be able to get visas on arrival to the country, you should get a visa for Azerbaijan from one of the diplomatic missions in the country.  The point here is you should have a valid passport for your travel. Make sure the validity date is more than three months from your desired period of stay.

There are specific visa eligibility requirements to Azerbaijan, which we will clarify for you. First of all, make sure the expiration of your passport is not less than six months while you are applying for a visa. Take your note that, if there are less than three months left the expiration of your passport, you might not be provided with a visa.

On the other hand, if you are one of the country citizens who is required to get a visa before the arrival to the country as stated in the visa policy of Azerbaijan, you must get a visa before your travel to the country. Visas for Azerbaijan are granted in the consulate or the embassy. The steps are straightforward, and you need to fill the application form and submit it to the embassy or consulate.

Visa Exempt Countries 

There are the passport owners of specific countries which are not required to get a visa to visit Azerbaijan. Here is the list of these countries: Albania, Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Libya (temporary not applied), Lithuania, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea ,Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Vietnam and only holders of diplomatic passports of Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Laos, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Qatar, Spain and Sweden.
 

The following country citizens can receive the visa on arrival to Azerbaijan for 30 days of the time period. The good news is that if you are a passport holder of one of those countries, you can get your visa at any airport. These countries are as follows below: Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.

In this case, the citizens of Turkey are eligible to obtain a visa to Azerbaijan for 60 days. If you are a USA citizen, there is good news for you as well.  It is possible to get a visa (30 days) on arrival for US citizens as well. The thing here is that you have to make sure your flight is a direct flight from New York City via Azerbaijan Airlines.

You have had a nice flight, got Azerbaijan and received your visa on arrival. The next thing is making sure you get the invitation letter from Azerbaijan State Migration Service or other authorities of the country.

Asian Development Bank staff and the dependents will be provided with ADB issued official invitation letter.

GCC Member State passengers can get 30 days of a visa for Azerbaijan. The thing is they should have a residence permit to proceed with this process successfully.

Electronic Visa -  Visa policy of Azerbaijan

Starting from January 2017, the specific countries are eligible to get an electronic visa. It is possible to get ASAN Visa for 30 days, as a new system - ASAN Service is established in the country.  You can get e-Visa easily within three working days. We will provide you with the list of countries, but take into account that you need to print and present the electronic visa together with your valid passport. The citizens of countries below can get e-visa for their visit to Azerbaijan: All European Union citizens, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Djibouti, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Qatar, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, United States, Vatican City, and Vietnam.

The visa application process is highly simplified for European Union citizens due to the agreement on a visa with the EU. The documentation process, the time needed for application and visa fees are reduced for most of the EU countries, except Denmark, Ireland, and the UK.
